Bonecrushers

3 games left for Bonecrushers

Posted on 06 May 2009 by James Tucker

With only 3 games left on the season, The Milwaukee Bonecrushers would have to win all 3 in order to break even on the season. Right now at 2-5, the Bonecrushers take on the Fort Wayne Freedom (3-4) down in Indiana. Fort Wayne has the number 3 rated defense in the league, which the Bonecrushers’ number 7th rated offense has to match up against. The Bonecrushers then have to take on the Rock River Raptors, whom they’ve already beaten once, 53-40. The Raptors are going to be out for revenge, and if they win the next 3-4 they will probably make the playoffs. The Bonecrushers end the season with the same opponent they started the season, the Chicago Slaughter. In the first match, the Slaughter housed the Bonecrushers 82-24. Asswhupping none the less. Sitting at currently 8-0 the Slaughter have already clinched a playoff birth and hav proven to be the team to beat all season long.  The key to the Bonecrushers defense has been the #1 rushing defense in the league.  Standing in the middle of the league for most of the other stats and rankings, the Bonecrushers are going to have to play as they did more towards the beginning of the season as opposed to more recently.

mkebone-4In their 1st home game of the 2009 season, the Bonecrushers looked to show much improvement compared to last season.  Unfortunately, the Bonecrushers lost to Western Division rival, the Wisconsin Wolfpack, 36-20.  Coming into the game at 1-1, with a win over the Rock River Raptors, the Bonecrushers fell to 1-2 and 3rd in the division.  Offensively the Bonecrushers are ranked 7th in the league averaging 32.3 points per game.  On the opposite side of the ball, the Bonecrushers are 6th, up one position from last week with 160 points allowed in 3 games.  The Chicago Slaughter are currently leading the Western division, with a 3-0 record.mkebone-3
Even with a slow start by the Wolfpack’s offense, they still managed 2 touchdowns in the 1st half.  The first coming off of a 4 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Tom Setzer out of UW-Platteveille to 6’2″ 210 receiver Reggie Davis also out of UW-Platteville.  The second td in the second quarter was a 30 yard pass from Setzer to Calvin Thomoas, putting the Wolfpack up 14-0.  With just under 6 min left in the second half, Randy Bell took a 3 yard run to the left side to put the Bonecrushers onto the board.
The third quarter was owned by the Wolfpack as they scored on 2 running plays by Eric Donoval for 5 yards and Derrick Brown from 2 yards.  Ronnie Gordon put another score onto the board with 7 minutes left in the quarter but the 2 point conversion pass to Randy Bell well short of the goal.  With just under 12 minutes to go in the fourth quarter, Tom Setzer completed a 17 yard pass to Reggie Davis for another 6, which seemed to close the deal on this game for the Bonecrushers making the score 36-12.  Thanks to Brent Allen’s holding penalty in the end zone half way through the quarter, Bonecrusher’s defensive end Darius Jones out of Wisconsin recorded a safety.
